Lanzarote is located at 29°00′ North 13° 40′ West, Lanzarote is the most easterly of the seven major Canary Islands and lies in the Atlantic Ocean only some 100 km (60 miles) from the coast of Africa and 1,000 km from the Iberian Peninsula. The surface of the island measures 846km square, and its widest point is some 21km across. the islands population is around 125,000.
