La Palma Airport

La Palma has good communications with the outside, both by sea and by air. From Mazo Airport, there are several flights a day to Tenerife, Gran Canaria and the rest of Europe. Ferries sail from the Port of Santa Cruz de La Palma three times a day to Tenerife, with connections to other Islands, and twice a week to El Hierro. Good bus service to the main towns and villages.

The airport accommodates about 1 million passengers per year. The two-level terminal handles both domestic and international flights. Domestic connections are mainly to the other Canary Islands and Madrid; international flights are primarily from the UK, Netherlands and Germany. During landings on the single runway, passengers are offered spectacular views of the sea on the right, and the mountains close on the left.

From Santa Cruz de la Palma (just eight kilometres to the north), take the LP-138 road, which then passes under the runway and rejoins the LP-132 road continuing on to Hoyo de Mazo and Fuencaliente to the south. Buses from Santa Cruz de la Palma to the airport depart every half-hour from 7:15 to 17:45, and then every hour until 20:45. From the airport to the city, buses leave every half-hour from 8:15 to 17:45, and then every hour until 21:15. Current timetables may be found at the airport information desk.
